Haute was founded by two families with an unfortunate history of cancer disease, with some family members able to recover and others who sadly did not.

This led to an unyielding obsession with thoroughly researching those ingredients that have enough "noise" or studies showing them to be potentially carcinogenic, toxic, or acting as hormone disruptors, to remove them from all our products.

"Potentially carcinogenic" or "controversial" was enough for us to remove such an ingredient from all our formulas.

Some types of cancer are genetic, but many have been linked to lifestyle or what we are exposed to daily. Sadly, there are many agents like radiation and pollutants that can be found in the air or food, which are harmful to our health and skin, that we cannot easily avoid.

The skin is our largest organ and absorbs a portion of what we put on it.

Today, fortunately, we can decide what we put on our skin every day.

WE NEVER USE PARABENS, SULFATES, MINERAL OILS, SILICONES, PHTHALATES, PEGS, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE OR PETROLEUM DERIVATIVES.

  • Various research studies link parabens as endocrine disruptors and with possible carcinogenic properties.

  • Industrial chemicals found in many cosmetics disrupt the endocrine system and have been linked to liver cancer.

  • Often used in shampoos and cleansers as foaming agents. Tests show they can penetrate eyes and systemic tissues (brain, heart, liver, etc.) with long-term retention and cause eye irritation, skin rashes, and allergic reactions.

  • Petroleum-based compounds found in most cosmetic products. Studies link them to cancer, reproductive, fertility, birth or developmental defects, and organic toxicity.

  • A type of preservative often used in cosmetics. The American Contact Dermatitis Society named methylisothiazolinone its Allergen of the Year 2013.

  • Used for a smooth finish with potential skin-clogging effect. Bad for the environment, as they are chemically inert and take 400-500 years to decompose and infiltrate the ecosystem.

  • Paraffins, mineral oil, polysorbates, and other petroleum derivatives have numerous studies related to toxicity. Skin-clogging effect that can actually masquerade as hydration, but actually dehydrates and ages the skin.
